About Pacific Empire Chorus

Our mission:  Pacific Empire Chorus is dedicated to bringing a cappella music to women of all ages and to preserving the American art form of Barbershop harmony singing through performance, education and competition.

Established in Sonoma County in 1964 as the Santa Rosa Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, and renamed the Pacific Empire Chorus in 1990, this chorus has been influenced by the very best in Barbershop Harmony and incredible local a cappella talent.

When you visit a Pacific Empire Chorus rehearsal, you’ll feel the electricity generated by the synergistic force of pure Northern California energy and a cappella harmony combined!

As you listen to this fabulous group of women sing songs from over 100 years of musical genres, you’ll be toe tapping and soul searching as the melodies ramble through you and into your every emotion. Their singing can take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride with a beautiful ballad and make you smile and want to sing and dance along with their peppy up-tunes!

PEC, under the direction of Patty Pennycook, brings a cappella harmony, and in particular Barbershop Harmony, to women of all ages throughout Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties. They have drawn members in from as far away as Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii, as well as from their own home town, Petaluma, California.  Come visit the Pacific Empire Chorus and experience for yourself the love of harmony, friendship and singing that is shared each time they gather to rehearse or perform.
