Musical Director

Patty Hawley Pennycook

Patty has over 35 years of experience in Sweet Adelines as a singer, front row dancer, music team section leader, assistant director and now over 14 years as a front-line director for PEC.  Her passionate love for our craft has guided our chorus forward in our quest for excellence in performance art... PEC is the current Regional Chorus Champion.

It is Patty’s goal, with her talented music team, for PEC to sing at the highest level possible and as a result, PEC has continued to achieve high honors in our division each year and is regularly invited to compete at the international level.  She has also directed the Napa Valley Harmonizers, a men’s chorus, for over 10 years.

She grew up a barbershop brat in Kentucky where she fell in love with ringing barbershop chords.  She comes from a musical family where her father, Charlie Hawley, was a member of the seven-time international men’s chorus champions.

Patty is a member of the internationally award-winning quartet, Swinglish Mix...a quartet that won the Region 4 championship in 1997 and went on to win the International Championship in 2003...becoming that year’s SAI Queens of Harmony. She has worn many hats over the years, in Marketing, Public Relations for the prestigious Sweet Adelines Coronet Club, also holding several office positions (VP and President).

Patty lives in Napa, California with her wine salesman husband, David, and sweet daughter, Carly, who recently joined PEC at the age of 14.
